How we reviewed Tickmill: This review was researched using EngineForex's broker review methodology. Each claimed licence was verified against the issuing authority's public register (FCA Connect, CySEC register, DFSA public register, Seychelles FSA register, BaFin database, CONSOB register, Labuan FSA register, FSCA register). Trustpilot ratings were checked live, and information was cross-referenced across at least two independent sources. Spreads, fees, and leverage figures are pulled directly from the broker's published pages. For the full methodology, see EngineForex's "How We Review Brokers" page. Read our full methodology →
Level 01 / 09 Overview

Overview

Tickmill is a forex and CFD broker with its UK entity headquartered in London, founded in 2014. The company serves over 623,000 clients through multiple regulated entities, processing monthly volumes above $196 billion. Tickmill does not accept US clients.

The instrument list covers 600+ CFDs: forex, commodities, stock indices, individual stocks and ETFs, bonds, and cryptocurrencies. The UK entity also offers futures and options with a separate $1,000 minimum deposit.

On the Raw account, spreads start from 0.0 pips on major pairs with a $3 per lot per side commission. The Classic account charges zero commission but widens spreads to 1.6 pips. Execution averages 0.15 seconds via a hybrid model.

The broker holds verified FCA, CySEC, and DFSA licences. Yet Trustpilot has suspended its consumer rating after stripping out fake reviews. That tension between institutional credibility and consumer-facing reputation runs through this review.

Tickmill suits experienced forex and CFD traders who care about tight spreads and multi-regulator safety nets, and who are comfortable navigating differences between the broker's various entities.

Level 02 / 09 Safety

Trust & Regulation

Regulatory Licenses

Tickmill runs regulated entities across multiple jurisdictions. Here is every licence checked against official registers.

Verified licences:

Tickmill UK Ltd is authorised by the FCA (FRN 717270), showing "Authorised" status. The same UK entity maintains a Representative Office in the DIFC, registered with the DFSA (F007663) and verified as active.

Tickmill Europe Ltd holds a CySEC licence (278/15), verified as active, allowing passporting across the EEA under MiFID II. The BaFin (146511) and CONSOB (4310) registrations are passported notifications from that CySEC licence, not separate standalone authorisations, both confirmed on their respective registers.

The BaFin entry shows "Tickmill Europe Ltd." with a trailing period, a minor naming discrepancy that is not unusual. The broker also claims passported registrations with the CNMV (4082) and ACPR (75473), though neither could be confirmed on their respective public registers at the time of writing.

Tickmill Ltd is licensed by the Seychelles FSA (SD008), verified on the FSA register. This entity serves international clients with 1:1000 (International) leverage.

Tickmill Asia Ltd holds a Labuan Financial Services Authority licence (MB/18/0028), verified on the Labuan FSA register.

Claims that could not be verified:

The broker states it holds FSCA regulation under Tickmill South Africa (Pty) Ltd with licence FSP 49464. A search of the FSCA register returned no matching entry. This does not necessarily mean the licence is invalid, but the broker does not appear on the public register as of this review.

To summarise: Tickmill holds one directly issued EU licence (CySEC, tier-2) with passported registrations confirmed at BaFin and CONSOB (both tier-1 registers), plus verified licences with the FCA (tier-1), DFSA (tier-2, representative office), Seychelles FSA (offshore), and Labuan FSA (offshore). The FSCA claim could not be confirmed.

Client Fund Protection

Client money is held in segregated accounts at tier-1 banks. FCA clients receive FSCS protection up to £85,000 per person under the statutory scheme. Tickmill advertises coverage of £120,000, but this higher figure could not be independently verified; UK clients should rely on the standard FSCS limit.

EU clients under CySEC receive up to €20,000 through the Investor Compensation Fund. Negative balance protection applies across all entities.

Tickmill references Lloyd's of London fund insurance covering $20,000 to $1,000,000 per client in insolvency. This claim could not be independently verified.

Company History & Reputation

Trustpilot has suspended Tickmill's rating, stating it removed fake reviews due to a "breach of our guidelines." The profile shows 1,124 total reviews: 59% five-star versus 23% one-star.

Recent complaints from April 2026 onward cite slippage during high-impact events, and at least one user reported funds confiscated without notice.

Reviews.io shows 1.2 out of 5 from 97 reviews, with only 3% recommending the broker. However, many visible reviews appear to be recovery-scam spam, likely dragging the score down artificially.

Google Reviews for the Cyprus office shows 4.4 out of 5 from 23 reviews. The iOS app carries 4.9 out of 5 from 8 ratings. DayTrading.com gives 4.0 out of 5.

Reddit sentiment splits down the middle, with smooth withdrawals and competitive spreads on r/Forex balanced against isolated reports of account issues. Reports of scammers impersonating the brand reflect third-party fraud, not broker misconduct.

UK clients can access MT4, MT5, TradingView, and Tickmill Trader. The EU entity (CySEC) lists MT4, MT5, WebTrader, MetaTrader for Mac, the Tickmill Mobile App, and VPS, but does not prominently feature TradingView.

MetaTrader 5 adds advanced pending orders, a built-in economic calendar, additional order types, and depth-of-market data, better suited for multi-asset strategies.

TradingView integration comes through the TradingView Raw account, limited to USD base currency with a $3.5 per lot per side commission.

Level 07 / 09 Deposit

Deposits & Withdrawals

Tickmill charges zero fees on deposits and withdrawals. Minimum deposit is $100 (or equivalent), minimum withdrawal is $25. Third-party payments are not accepted; the payment method must be in your name.

Payment methods by entity:

  • Global (Seychelles): Bank Transfer (USD, EUR, GBP, ZAR), Visa/Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller, UnionPay, Crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC via ERC20).
  • EU (CySEC): Adds PayPal, Trustly, and Przelewy24, supporting PLN and CHF alongside EUR, GBP, USD.

The Zero Fees Policy covers bank wire deposits of $5,000 or more, with Tickmill reimbursing fees up to $100.

Card withdrawals follow a return-to-source rule: amounts equal to total card deposits go back to the same card, with excess going to your preferred alternative method. This is standard anti-money-laundering practice.

Level 08 / 09 Education

Research & Education

Tickmill provides Signal Centre and Acuity Trading for trade ideas and sentiment data. The Economic Calendar (powered by TradingView) filters by impact level and event type.

Forex Calculators handle margin, pip value, swap rates, and profit calculations. The toolkit is competent, though traders relying heavily on proprietary research may find it less distinctive than some larger brokers.

Educational content includes webinars, seminars, video tutorials, and blog articles covering technical and fundamental analysis. Solid but standard, with no structured academy or tiered learning path.

Level 09 / 09 Support

Customer Support

Specific data on support channels, availability hours, supported languages, and response times was not available from verified sources. The broker references a multilingual support team, but live chat hours, phone availability, and typical response times could not be confirmed.

Testing Tickmill's responsiveness directly before committing funds is advisable.

▸ Our Verdict

Our Verdict on Tickmill

Tickmill delivers for cost-conscious forex traders: verified raw spreads from 0.0 pips, $3 per lot per side commission, execution averaging 0.15 seconds, and FCA, CySEC, and DFSA licences confirmed on official registers.

Platform selection covers most trading styles with MT4, MT5, TradingView, and Tickmill Trader, plus the free Advanced Trading Toolkit. With 600+ instruments across seven asset classes, the range sits above average.

The reputation picture demands caution. Trustpilot suspending a broker's rating after removing fake reviews is not a minor footnote. The polarized review split and recent complaints about slippage and fund confiscation are not easily dismissed.

The FSCA licence could not be confirmed on the register. Meaningful differences between entities mean traders should know exactly which entity they will be assigned to before depositing.

Best for: Experienced traders wanting raw spreads from a well-regulated broker who understand multi-entity structures.

Skip if: You rely on consumer reviews for trust signals or need verified 24/7 support before committing.
